About Customer
MCT India Infotech is a leading Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions providerspecializing in IBM Maximo implementations, consulting, managed services, anddigital transformation for asset-intensive industries. The company helpsorganizations across manufacturing, utilities, infrastructure, transportation, oil & gas, and public sector enterprises maximize asset performance, improve operational efficiency, and reduce maintenance costs through advancedasset management solutions.
As MCT India expanded its customer base and delivered increasingly business-criticalapplications, the organization required a modern cloud platform capable ofsupporting scalable IBM Maximo deployments while ensuring highavailability, security, disaster recovery, and operational resilience
Challenges
To support its growing business and customerrequirements, MCT India planned to modernize its infrastructure by hosting IBMMaximo Application Suite (MAS) on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The objective wasto establish a secure, highly available, and scalable cloud platform capable ofsupporting enterprise workloads while simplifying infrastructure management.
The organization faced several key challenges:
- Need for a secureand highly available platform to host IBM Maximo Application Suite forenterprise customers.
- Requirement forbusiness continuity with an Active-Active Disaster Recovery architecture acrossAWS Regions.
- Secure remoteconnectivity for developers, administrators, and customer support teams.
- Protection ofsensitive enterprise asset management data through robust security controls.
- Centralizedmonitoring, governance, and compliance to improve operational visibility.
- A flexible cloudarchitecture capable of supporting future business growth and additionalcustomer deployment
Why Velocis
MCT India selected Velocis as its AWS partner basedon its expertise in designing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutionsfor business-critical enterprise applications. Velocis designed a secure, scalable, and resilient AWS architecture for MCT India Infotech Pvt.Ltd. to host the IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) on AWS. The solutionwas built to provide high availability, secure remote access, businesscontinuity through a multi-region Disaster Recovery (DR) architecture, and astrong security posture while supporting future business growth. Thearchitecture leveraged the following AWS services:
- Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) to host IBM OpenShift Single Node (SNO) clusters, IBM Db2 database servers, and supporting application components. Workloads are deployed within private subnets to ensure security, performance, and isolation for business-critical applications.
- Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) to distribute incoming application traffic across backend services, ensuring high availability, improved application performance, and seamless user access.
- Amazon Route 53 to provide highly available DNS resolution and intelligent traffic routing for application access, enabling quick redirection to the Disaster Recovery environment during failover scenarios.
- Amazon S3, Amazon EBS, Amazon EFS, and AWS Backup to deliver secure, durable, and highly available storage for application data, configuration files, and backups. Cross-region backups and replication strengthen business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities.
- AWS WAF, AWS Certificate Manager (ACM), and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) to provide layered security, secure application access, encrypted communication, and centralized identity and access management aligned with AWS security best practices.
- AWS Systems Manager, AWS Config, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon CloudWatch, AWSCloudTrail, and AWS Security Hub to enable centralizedmonitoring, configuration management, compliance tracking, threat detection, auditing, and proactive governance across the AWS environment.
- AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Site-to-Site VPN, and Pritunl VPN to establish secure connectivity between the customer's on-premises environment, developers, remote administrators, and AWS resources, ensuring protected access to private workloads.
- Multi-Region Disaster Recovery Architecture across the AWS Mumbai and AWS Hyderabad Regions using cross-region replication, AWS Backup, and IBM Db2 HADR replication to provide business continuity with minimal Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO), ensuring uninterrupted access to critical business applications.
Solution Description
Velocis designed and deployed a secure, scalable, and resilient AWS environment for MCT India to host the IBM Maximo Application Suite. The production environment was deployed in the AWS Mumbai Region, while an Active-Active Disaster Recovery environment was established in the AWS Hyderabad Region to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime.
IBM OpenShift Single Node Clusters and IBM Db2 database servers were hosted on Amazon EC2 instances within private subnets, while Application Load Balancers, Amazon Route 53, and secure VPN connectivity enabled reliable and protected access for users and administrators. AWS Security Hub, AWS Config, Amazon GuardDuty, and AWS Systems Manager strengthened security, governance, and operational management across the environment.
